Our fourth edition of the Lost River Classic gravel bike race is coming up in one month (August 16), and we will have a farmer’s market as usual. This market continues to grow each year, and we are pleased to announce (at the date of this posting) that there will be 18 local vendors joining us in the market, which will take place at the Mathias Community Center at 195 Howard’s Lick Road, from 1-5pm, coinciding with the return of most cyclists to the finish line for their post-ride meal. We’ll also have live music first from CC Nichols (https://ccnicholsmusic.com/), followed by the duo of Ben Townsend and Matt Metz, who both rode in and performed at the Lost River Classic last year.

The vendor registration form is still open until the day of the race August 16, but I will keep a running list of vendors as they come in:
- 101 Chips
- Backwoods Peanut Patch (boiled peanuts)
- Bowls and Things (wooden crafts)
- Chaotic Color Brats (tie died clothing)
- Citrus Squeeze (fresh squeezed lemonade)
- Cove Mountain Bakery
- Doggone Good Honey
- Hidden Treasures of the Lost City
- Honaker Mountain Candles
- Lost River Artists’ Marketplace (arts and crafts TBD)
- Madison Fields (cupcakes and cookies)
- Mike’s Ice (shaved ice)
- South Branch Cattle and Meat Company
- Stuff and More Stuff (repurposed wood and metal crafts and jams and jellies)
- Thorny Bottom Sugarworks
- Tobi Dannemiller (painting)
- Wild and Wonderful Homestead (elderberry products)
- Williams Sweet Corn
We look forward to hosting the Lost River Classic, which is much more than just a bike race, but a celebration of cycling and its positive impact on the Hardy County community. All proceeds from the race support the Lost River Trails Coalition’s mission to develop mountain bike trails in Lost River State Park and helps fund the Hardy County Cryptids youth mountain bike team.
