At long last, the IMBA Trail Solutions crew arrived in Hardy County to begin work on the first phase of purpose-built adaptive mountain bike trail in Lost River State Park! Construction began on September 22 and has continued through three straight weeks. More than a half a mile of trail has been built so far. This phase, which is funded by a Recreational Trail Program (RTP) grant, is expected to reach completion sometime in December, culminating in three miles of adaptive beginner trail which will be named in honor of Lost River Trails Coalition founder, Jay Moglia.
We are looking forward to a soft launch of the Jay Moglia Beginner Trails sometime during the winter, but we will also be planning a grand opening with a variety of bike-related activities, hopefully in May to coincide with National Bike Month. It’s exciting to consider that the Hardy County Cryptids youth mountain bike team will be able to practice on these new trails for their 2026 season!

Lost River Trails Coalition received a second RTP grant totaling $250,000 for the next phase of construction, which will begin at a later date (hopefully in 2026).
LRTC would like to thank our sponsors, donors, and contributors for their support, particularly Michele Mouré-Reeves of the Hardy County Convention and Visitors Bureau and the Jonathan D. and Mark C. Lewis Foundation.
