The fourth annual Lost River Classic is coming up just about 6 weeks from now on Saturday, August 16. This is our biggest fundraising event each year, raising nearly $10,000 in revenue for LRTC, which is split between the Cryptids youth mountain bike team and our general trail maintenance and development fund. A generous contribution is also made to the Mathias Community Center for their support of the event with the chicken BBQ.
We have a great event planned this year. We are expecting 200 cyclists from around the mid-Atlantic, a farmer’s market at the community center from 1-5pm with 10 confirmed vendors (so far), and live bluegrass music from several location musicians (CC Nichols followed by Matt Metz and Ben Townsend) during the post-ride meal.
This event wouldn’t be successful without the support of members of the local community. Please consider volunteering if you are able on August 16 by signing up here: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10C094EA9AF2AAAFCC25-57470226-lost
The Kirby Community Center aid station is already spoken for, but we need help at other aid stations along the route (two aid stations need two shifts since they are on both the 85 and 65 mile courses) and especially need more help this year with the food service at the Mathias Community Center throughout the late morning and afternoon. The food service slots entail warming up the side items in the community center kitchen and ensuring drinks, plates, silverware, etc. are put out for the cyclists to ensure an efficient meal.
All volunteers will receive an event T-shirt and free meal at the community center.
Thank you for your support!
